Cheshire Mouldings invest in electric forklift truck fleet

Cheshire Mouldings made the transition to an all-electric Forklift Truck (FLT) fleet in 2022/23.

The move away from the existing gas / diesel FLT fleet saw significant improvements for Cheshire Mouldings in terms of cost, performance, environmental benefits and also workplace safety for operators and warehouse staff.

Our electric forklift fleet has seen significant savings in operating costs – with lower electric fuel and reduced maintenance costs and downtime – ensuring we maintain a high level of customer service and high OTIF performance.

The electric FLT fleet have also significantly reduced our emissions and fumes improving our local air quality in our warehouses for our workers; whilst also reducing our company carbon emissions.

In addition to this, our Toyota Traigo Electric FLTs offer industry-leading safety features to ensure our workforce’s safety within our warehouses and loading bay areas. This includes – a Pedestrian Detection Camera system which utilises state-of-the-art technology to help operators be more aware of pedestrians working in the vicinity of materials handling equipment – in all environments.

Our Toyota FLTs also have a customised Impact Detection software which allows for various levels of impact to be recorded, reported and ultimately disable the truck if needed. Each impact is recorded and includes full information including Driver, Date and time and location using GPS.

John Carney – Managing Director of Cheshire Mouldings commented : “The move across to the all-electric Toyota FLT fleet in 2022 has seen numerous benefits to our business – with significant cost-savings and a huge improvement Health & Safety performance and reduced risk in what was traditionally a higher risk part of our business. Added to this we have seen environmental benefits, with improved air quality and reduced carbon emissions. The move has been transformational to our warehousing operations.”
