Sales Director, Hawthorn Timber

Richard has been a key member of the Hawthorn leadership team. In 2021, he was part of the management buy-out team, supported by private equity investor Nimbus Partners. In 2024 the company became part of Summit Timber Group, marking another phase of consolidation and expansion in the UK timber merchant/manufacturing sector. 

Richards has extensive experience in timber/merchant sector sales and operations, with strong commercial acumen. Given Hawthorn’s requirement to import, process, machine, treat and distribute timber at scale (more than 60,000 m³ imports, 80,000 m² storage/manufacturing facilities), his role focuses on Hawthorn’s sales with a deep understanding of supply chain, timber processing cost, customer needs, and product specification.

Based in Hull and operating nationally, Richard has a blend of regional roots and national reach, helping maintain strong relationships in a competitive sector.

Richard plays a key role in driving Hawthorn Timber’s commercial performance, leveraging manufacturing and treatment capabilities, and steering growth during a period of consolidation.
