Hawthorn Timber have recently made significant investments and improvements to their newly acquired site in Selby.

Hawthorn Timber have opened a new additional production facility at Breighton Airfield in Selby, North Yokshire. The Swantech Timber business was acquired by Hawthorn Timber’s parent company – Summit Timber Group earlier this year; and since then – major levels of investment in new machinery, warehousing and storage space, and welfare facilities at the site have been made by Hawthorn.

The new facility will focus on high volume, treated & machined timber products with a focus on Cladding and Decking ranges, treated to USE Class 3 using the site’s existing modern timber treatment capabilities.

A number of new customers have already committed for the upcoming 2026 Landscape season, and Hawthorn have high expectations for the site, with the additional capabilities and capacity this brings to the group.

The new site will be known as Hawthorn Timber – Selby.

Mike Crane – Production Manager, has been with Hawthorn Timber 38 years and has a wealth of manufacturing experience in the timber sector. Mike commented : “Hawthorn have invested heavily in this new site, with significant upgrades to the existing lines and the addition of 2 high-speed moulding lines – one Leadermac and one Weinig. A further additional new line is planned to arrive in mid-2026. We have been working hard since September to also service and bring up-to-speed our Band Saw, and the cross-cutting machines. With this investment and upgrade work, we are aiming to hit the ground running immediately after we return from the Christmas holidays to start production. This should see our capacity increase to beyond 2000m3 per month going forward.”

Richard Iversen – Sales Director “This new site and the additional capacity it brings will enable Hawthorn to offer high quality USE Class 3 Cladding & Decking ranges into both existing and new customers. We see a bright future for the site going forward”
